My family had the task of finding a Residential Home that I would be happy in and that they would be happy for me to be in.

I had a lot of preconceived ideas about residential homes and I remember thinking as I came through the front door, that I might never go outside again.

How wrong I was. Life at Ridgegate Home has proved to be very free and easy, a lot like living in my own home except that help is always there when I need it.

I still visit my friends and they can visit me for a chat and a cup of tea.

I go out shopping with my relatives, there is regular entertainment at the home and a minibus for trips to interesting places. In actual fact, I find there is a lot more going on in my life now than if I was still at home.

I would say to anyone who is at that stage in their life when they are thinking of entering a Home: look around, stay for the day or a week and you'll soon find your fears are groundless, just as I did.
